Music is the poetry of the air.      ~   Richter ~

Alice Liu:   It is extremely important to learn how to play an instrument in a modern child's life. I think that everyone should have some knowledge about music and be able to experience something that is more creative than reading a textbook and doing math problems. it doesn't matter what instrument it is. Anything is great, as long as it opens you up to music! School band is great, as well as orchestra or chorus. Knowing how to play an instrument expands your knowledge and who knows? Maybe after taking band in school, you fall in love with your instrument and you pursue that as a career!  (Click here)

Why do I think learning to play an instrument is important in modern child's life.

Danielle Cui : Learning to play an instrument is important in a modern child's life for many reasons.  First, children will have memorization skills.  When preparing for competitions, kids usually will have to memorize their piece(s).  This characteristic can be helpful when children have to memorize speeches or memorize music for other instruments.  Also, kids will have more self confidence after playing in front of people.  This characteristic will be helpful when children are presenting.  If they get used to presenting because of their performances, then they will have more self-confidence when they have to do speeches or even perform for other music competitions.  I like playing piano and practicing piano is fun.  I also like to be on the stage and perform for others. Lastly, not many people play piano so playing the piano makes me special.

Zoe Anne Perez : Music education is important because it makes me smarter. And my fingers stronger. It makes pretty sound. Music makes people happy. Music makes me happy too when I play songs for my family. Writing notes help me learn better.

Annie Gu: When I play music, it takes me to another world. Music lets you be creative and this very important in modern life. I have been learning piano for almost four years. It has taught me to focus more and be disciplined. It extends your memory. To play beautiful music, you have to follow rules such as tempo, dynamics, mechanics, and much, much more. You can’t play well unless you follow the rules, just like in life. The world around us also has rules to follow. Music also creates a sense of achievement. When I listen to the beautiful sounding music I play after overcoming the challenges in practice, I am so proud of myself. It increases my confidence. Music makes me a better person and a happier person.      (Click here)

Mitali Parikh:     Can you imagine life without music? It would not be as easy as it seems, as music plays a significant role in the lives of human beings. I believe that learning to play an instrument is important in a modern child’s life. Music allows children to express themselves in ways which words cannot. Music delicately crafts a child’s form of expression. Musical instruments have the ability to guide children into the right direction. Children who play instruments are disciplined and confident about themselves. Learning to play a musical instrument can teach children the valuable lesson that with hard work and practice, success can be achieved. Life lessons such as determination and patience will only come through such a beautiful experience of learning to play an instrument. The opportunity to learn to play a musical instrument is like being given the opportunity to be creative, spontaneous, and passionate. The possibilities are endless, and the outcomes are truly beautiful.
